Maintenance of Tops

granite

Granite

Granites vary and the lighter colours in particular can be quite porous. Granite is a natural product and the face of the stone can exhibit a granular appearance which is totally normal. Granite tops are sealed prior to leaving our factory and are again sealed when fitting has been completed. It may be necessary for the tops to be sealed again during their life and we can offer advice regarding this.

Granite is resistant to stains but sensible precautions need to be taken. Grease and oil and acids such as lemon juice can ingress into the stone face if not wiped up quickly. We also advise the use of trivets for hot pans removed from ovens or hobs.

We recommend washing the surfaces with hot soapy water, rinsing with clear water and finally buffing the tops with a soft cloth to return the shine to the stone.

quartz

Quartz

Quartz tops do not require sealing. We recommend cleaning with hot soapy water, rinsing with clear water and finally polishing with a soft cloth. Any staining that may occur can be removed using a small amount Cif cream using a circular motion, rinse with clear water and finally polishing with a soft cloth to produce a shiny streak free finish

We do not recommend the use of knives directly on the surface of either granite or quartz as this may form slight marks in the material and will also blunt your knives. We therefore recommend the use of a chopping board.
